Crime Report: 1 Injured in VFW Robbery

Patch reports on recent criminal activity in the Plainview and Syosset area.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Nassau County Police reported that a robbery took place at the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Plainview. The suspect allegedly demanded property and then punched a victim in the throat before leaving.

Two burglaries were also reported in nearby Bethpage and Farmingdale. In Syosset, a car was stolen on Southwood Circle.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • Aug. 3: Petit larceny; Dupont Avenue, Plainview; gas filler door stolen from car.
  • Aug. 4: Criminal mischief; Hollywood Drive, Plainview; paintballs thrown on car.
  • Aug. 4: Grand larceny; Pelican Court, Syosset; jewelry stolen.
  • Aug. 5: Criminal mischief; Roxton Road, Plainview; eggs thrown at house and car.
  • Aug. 4: Burglary; Elizabeth Street, Farmingdale; assorted jewelry, cash stolen.
  • Aug. 7: Criminal mischief; Astoria Federal Savings, Syosset; dents on car.
  • Aug. 8: Burglary; Hicksville Road, Bethpage; front door cylinder removed, nothing taken.
  • Aug. 9: Robbery; VFW, Plainview; subject demanded property and punched a victim in the throat.
  • Aug. 9: Candy Lane, Syosset; driver's window broken on car.
  • Aug. 10: Grand larceny; Scott Place, Plainview; tires and rims stolen from car.
  • Aug. 11: Grand larceny; Southwood Circle, Syosset; car stolen.
  • Aug. 12: Criminal mischief; Orchard Street, Plainview; scratches on car.
