Crime Report: String of Car Break-Ins

Patch reports on crimes in the Syosset and Woodbury area.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Nassau County Police reported several instances of vehicle break-ins in the Syosset and Woodbury neighborhoods. In both residential and commercial areas throughout the neighborhood, valuable electronics and personal items have been taken from cars.

In addition, there were two burglaries reported in Syosset and Plainview, though nothing was reported stolen in either incident.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • Aug. 13: Grand larceny; Country Club, Jericho; golf bags, clubs stolen from car.
  • Aug. 16: Grand larceny; Berkshire Road, Bethpage; cash, wallet stolen from car.
  • Aug. 18: Grand larceny; Whitlock Street, Plainview; tires and rims stolen from car.
  • Aug. 19: Petit larceny; Whole Foods Market, Jericho; iPad and case stolen from car.
  • Aug. 20: Criminal mischief; Crest Hollow Country Club, Woodbury; car damaged.
  • Aug. 21: Burglary; Superior Cleaners, Hicksville; cash stolen from register.
  • Aug. 21: Criminal mischief; Hillside Lane, Syosset; scratches on car.
  • Aug. 22: Grand larceny; Kohls, Jericho; handbag, iPhone, drivers license stolen.
  • Aug. 24: Petit larceny; Knickerbocker Road East, Plainview; cellphone, charger stolen from car.
  • Aug. 24: Petit larceny; Holly Drive, Syosset; GPS, cash stolen from car.
  • Aug. 24: Petit larceny; Southwood Circle, Syosset; Garmin GPS, cash stolen from car.
  • Aug. 24: Petit larceny; Southwood Circle, Syosset; personal papers stolen from car.
  • Aug. 24: Burglary; Lifetime Chimney Supply, Plainview; side window entry, nothing taken.
  • Aug. 24: Burglary; Drury Lane, Syosset; rear/French door entry, nothing taken.
