Crime Report: Tire Slashing Rampage

Patch reports on recent crimes in the Plainview and Syosset area. Vandals do heavy damage to cars in Aug. 14 crime spree.

The following arrest information was supplied by the Second Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Nassau police reported a tire slashing rampage that occurred on Aug. 14 in the vicinity of Bethpage, Levittown and Hicksville, where at least 16 vehicles had their tires slashed by vandals. Additional attacks on cars in the vicinity were also reported. 

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • Aug. 19: Robbery; Bagel Boss, Hicksville; victim punched in stomach, wallet demanded; no loss.
  • Aug. 17: Grand Larceny; Sears, Hicksville, Auto Stolen.
  • Aug. 14: Criminal mischief; Dianne Street, Bethpage; tires slashed on three cars.
  • Aug. 14: Criminal mischief; South Broadway, Hicksville, tires slashed.
  • Aug. 14: Criminal mischief; various locations in Levittown; tires slashed on 12 separate vehicles.
  • Aug. 15: Grand larceny; U.S. Post Office, Plainview; Wallet stolen.
  • Aug. 12: Petit larceny; Blueberry Lane, Hicksville; Ipad stolen from car.
  • Aug. 14: Burglary; Adele Court, Old Bethpage; Rear door entry, cash stolen.
  • Aug. 16: Criminal mischief; BP Gas Station, Hicksville; tires slashed, windows smashed on three autos.
