Crimes Nearby: Homicide and Bomb Threat

Here is a rundown of the major crimes in surrounding neighborhoods.

Babylon

A Copiague man was arrested on a felony DWI charge Saturday afternoon after police say he drove high on drugs with children in his car and caused a minor three-car crash in Babylon.

Reynaldo Jackson, 46, was driving a 1996 Nissan Maxima southbound on Deer Park Avenue at the intersection of Simon Street just before 4 p.m. when he rear-ended a 2011 Mazda that was stopped at a light, police said.

The impact of the crash caused the Mazda to then strike a 1997 Jeep, police said.

Jackson’s 12-year-old son and 2-year-old grandson were in the Nissan and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip "to be checked out" after the accident, police said. No one else was injured.

Having been found to be impaired by drugs at the scene, Jackson is charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child--a felony under Leandra’s Law--driving while ability impaired by drugs and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

 

Plainview

Nassau County Police have confirmed that numerous burglaries have been reported recently in the Plainview area. No arrests have been made. The Second Precinct reported:

On Oct. 3, Lay Jewelers, Hicksville; diamond ring/necklace stolen.

On Oct. 4, grand larceny. Old Country Road, Hicksville; power lawn tools stolen from truck.

On Oct. 4, grand larceny, Broadway Mall, Hicksville; wallet, credit cards stolen.

On Oct. 4, petit larceny, Ruth Drive, Jericho; tires and rims stolen from auto.

On Oct. 5, burglary, Roxton Road, Plainview; Front door entry--no loss.

On Oc. 5, burglary S. Marginal Road, Jericho; front-door entry--no loss.

On Oct. 5, burglary, Birchwood Park Drive, Jericho; binoculars, cameras laptops stolen.

On Oct. 6, robbery, sears, Hicksville; Dolce Cabana cologne taken.

On Oct. 6, grand larceny, Executive Drive, Plainview; fraudulent activity.

On Oct. 7, burglary, Amby Avenue, Plainview; Movado watch, necklace stolen.

On Oct. 7, burglary, Audrey Avenue, Plainview; rear entry, no loss.

 

Huntington

A 21-year-old man who had been shot twice earlier this year was killed Thursday in Huntington. Cory Taylor-Culberth was found shot in the torso and died later at Huntington Hospital. He had been shot in two separate attacks in July, including one near Main Street in Huntington Village. A suspect is still in jail for the first two attacks.

Gregory Smith from Huntington was arrested in Huntington for sex offender registration violation, second offense.

Antonia Petrizzo from Huntington Station was arrested in Huntington for second-degree burglary of a dwelling.

Seth Rizzitano from Commack was arrested in Huntington for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Jean Crowe from Huntington was arrested in Huntington for second-degree harassment, physical contact.

 

Lindenhurst

A Lindenhurst student was arrested Monday afternoon for allegedly making a  to , police said.

Last Thursday, police received a report that a  dated for this Tuesday had been typed onto a classroom calculator inside of the school.

Following an investigation by detectives, the girl, 16, was arrested Monday at approximately 3 p.m., police said.

She was charged with first-degree falsely reporting an incident, a felony, police said.
