Syosset Firefighter Accused of Forging Prescription

Man stole Rx from employer to get Percocet pills, says Nassau DA.

A Syosset volunteer firefighter was recently charged with stealing a prescription form from his employer to get Percocet pain pills, according to Newsday.

William Sauberman, 27, of Woodbury was arrested Aug. 13 and charged with forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument and grand larceny and has been arraigned in in First District Court in Hempstead. 

Sauberman allegedly stole the form from his employer at Sports Associates of Long Island in Woodbury, where he worked as a medical assistant and IT administrator, and filled it out for 120 Percocets.

According to Newsday, the Syosset Fire Department, where Sauberman is a volunteer firefighter and EMT, filed internal charges against him on Aug. 20. It's unknown if they are related to the forgery arrest.

A source told Patch that Sauberman has been suspended from the department indefinitely as of Aug. 20.

Sauberman will return to court Sept. 5.
