Massapequa has more off duty officers from The NYPD living here on Long Island than any other town on Long Island. It is a slap in the face to them and the people who pay very high taxes to get treated like they do. The shooting off of front street about a year and a half ago, with the plain clothes officer getting killed by a MTA cop.... Where were the supervisors? Basic police work , it wasn't handled properly. The guy who attacked the first officers was already down, the threat was over.. So why did the plain clothes officer have to be there? And then they were pissed because they said the MTA cop shouldn't have been there. Come on, that could have been prevented.

I have friends who are officers in most of the Nassau precincts. The ones in the busy pcts, such as the 5th and 1st are always handling crappy jobs and dealing with danger.... Being cops. The ones in the slower pcts such as the 7th act like they are owed something......I don't know what that is, because they do what they want , eat and sleep where they want. That is just wrong, they are civil servants and deserve to give respect if they want respect. When I grew up here, I was always taught to respect officer ..... And I did, but not what these guys do.
