Dublin Mourns Loss of Another Former Student

Authorities are investigating the death of 20-year-old Michael Radu, who passed away on Dec. 7 — about a week after another former Dublin student died.

Another former Dublin school district student has passed away, officials said.

Michael Radu, who officials say recently attended Dublin and Valley High, passed away on Friday, Dec. 7. He was 20.

The Alameda County Coroners Bureau does not have a cause of death and are scheduling a toxicology test. The Dublin Police Department declined to comment on the death.

"It's definitely shocking and a tragedy for everyone involved," said Dr. Stephen Hanke, Dublin Unified School District superintendent. "Our hearts and prayers certainly go out to his family at this time. It is very heartbreaking for anyone to lose a child."

Hanke said a meeting was scheduled Monday to make campus staff aware of the former student's death. Also planned is a moment of silence and opportunities for the school community to provide contributions to Radu's family for services.

Counselors will also be available on campus to anyone who is personally impacted by Radu's death, Hanke said.

Friends have made sweatshirts in memory of Radu's death and also held a candlelight vigil, according to pictures posted on social media websites.

Radu's death comes about a week after another former Dublin High student passed away.

The Radu Family would like to thank the entire Dublin Community for their outpouring of support, especially our neighbors on Frederiksen Court. Most of all, the Vasquez and Magallanez Families for their constant love and support.

I'm sorry for your loss. I traded my iPod for Mike's Xbox in October. Since then we've texted now and then. R.I.P Mike!
