Update: Fire Tears Through Vacant Woodbury Home

New photos from the scene of a fully involved fire in Woodbury Sunday.

Two firefighters were injured in a blaze in a vacant Woodbury home Sunday night.

Fire and police officials said that at 7:10 p.m. Sunday, a call was received about a fire in a house on Juneau Boulevard in Woodbury.

Syosset Fire Chief Robert Kaplan said upon arrival at the reportedly vacant house, first responders found the home fully engulfed with flames eminating from the roof and windows.

Jericho, Plainview, and Huntington Manor fire departments were called in to aid in extinguishing the blaze.

Kaplan reported that two firefighters sustained minor injuries. They were treated and released at the scene, Kaplan said.

Nassau County Fire Marshals are currently investigating what caused the fire.

I live across the street. It was a huge fire that threatened to spread through the trees. The fire departments did a fantastic job getting under control quickly. Thank you to all these brave volunteers.
