Firefighters Tackle Early Morning Car Fire

Car crashes in wooded area off Jericho Turnpike; driver sustains minor injuries.

Syosset firefighters battled a morning blaze after a car crashed into a wooded area.

According to Syosset fire officials, the department and Nassau County Highway units were called to the scene at about 12:45 a.m. Monday.

Witnesses said a silver Volkswagen sedan had driven into the wooded area at the end of Route 135 near Jericho Turnpike.

The driver reportedly sustained minor injuries after the crash that ignited the fire.
