Gun Buyback Program Scheduled

Police to offer $200 for turning in weapons.

Nassau County Police are planning a gun buyback program on June 23.

Individuals will be paid $200 cash per turned in an operable handgun. Licensed guns, BB guns, air pistols, long guns and replicas will not be accepted.

Forfeiture funds from the Nassau County Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office are used to fund the program.

The program will run from 9 a.m. to noon at Union Baptist Church, 24 Clinton C. Boone Place, Hempstead.

The program is anonymous.
