Propane Leak 'Burned-Off' in Street

Syosset fire officials and hazmat determined 20-lb. tank leaked needed to be burned.

burned off propane in the street after a recently filled tank leaked in Muttontown.

Syosset firefighters joined Hicksville Fire Department and Nassau County Hazmat units in responding to Midlane South in Muttontown at about 2:39 p.m. Thursday. A homeowner had found that a recently filled 20-lb. propane tank was leaking.

Responders and hazmat units determined the fuel needed to be burned off. Crews used specialized equipment to burn the leaked fuel.
