Live Wires Close Woodbury Road Wednesday

Truck strikes, snaps pole; driver not injured.

Police and fire units shut Woodbury Road to tame live wires from a snapped electrical pole.

Syosset Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded to Woodbury Road near the Avery Road intersection Wednesday morning. Responders said they found that a G&S Gardens, Inc. truck had struck a telephone pole, splitting it in half. The pole fell, dragging and snapping its wires.

Woodbury Road was closed in both directions while crews guarded the wires until LIPA responded.
