Man Accused of Aggravated DWI Due in Court

Suffolk man accused of driving drunk with child in car.

A man accused of driving while intoxicated with a 4-year-old child in the car is due back in court next week.

Nassau County Police said Daryl Veit, 42, of Bohemia, struck a guardrail at Exit 13 of the Seaford-Oyster Bay Expressway while driving north in a 2007 Ford Explorer. Exit 13 is the Long Island Expressway.

The incident happened at approximately 8:20 p.m. Veit was treated at a local hospital for a minor back pain while his young passenger was unharmed, police said.

The child was released to his mother while Veit has been charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, child under 15, under Leandra's Law and DWI.

He is scheduled for a hearing Monday in Nassau First District Court.
