Man Identified in Syosset LIRR Fatality

Man struck and killed by eastbound train early Tuesday morning.

Travis Rittenhouse, 34, of Huntington was identified by police as the man killed by a train at the Syosset LIRR station early Tuesday morning.

The investigation is continuing and police do not currently believe there was any criminality involved, according to Newsday

The man was reportedly trying to cross from one platform to the other when he was struck and killed by an eastbound train around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday. About 50 passengers were onboard the train when the man was struck.

A woman was struck and killed at the Syosset LIRR station just one month ago. A number of other fatalities have also occurred at the station over the past year.
