Man Leads Police on Chase Through Mineola

Nassau Police arrest Amityville man with suspended license after allegedly striking police vehicles.

have arrested an Amityville man after he allegedly fled from police along the Long Island Expressway, leading authorities through Mineola and striking several police cruisers as he failed to escape.

A highway patrol office first observed Earl Perry, 26, operating a 2008 Toyota erratically while traveling westbound on the Long Island Expressway in the vicinity of Exit 43 in Syosset. He was stopped at exit 40 where it was learned that he had a suspended driver’s license and suspended registration plates. The defendant then fled westbound in his vehicle and exited the Long Island Expressway continuing westbound on Jericho Turnpike passing several steady red traffic signal lights.

According to police, Perry struck struck a police vehicle at Jay Court and Jericho Turnpike and drove eastbound on Jericho Turnpike striking the same police vehicle again. He then placed his vehicle in reverse and struck another police vehicle. The defendant’s vehicle eventually came to a rest on Rudolph Court where he again placed his vehicle in reverse striking a police vehicle before exiting and fleeing on foot.

Officers from the third precinct aided in locating Perry and arresting him. One police officer was removed to a local hospital where he was treated and released for neck and back injuries.

Perry is charged with second degree assault, second degree criminal mischief, second degree reckless endangerment and numerous violations of the vehicle and traffic law. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on June 29, 2012.

No attempted murder on a police officer? I guess they didn't trump the charges bc the police didn't shoot at the defendant this time. Funny how the law works
