Man Is Rescued From Top of Crane

He went to hospital in stable condition.

A man was rescued from a crane by the Syosset Fire Department Wednesday morning after he was injured by a piece of metal.

At 8:53 a.m. volunteers were summoned to the scene on Gordon Drive, according to 1st Dep. Chief Robert Kaplan. A company was expanding the back of a building, and a man was fixing the crane on a concrete truck using welding equipment.

He was struck by a piece of metal and suffered head and neck injuries. Firefighters had to remove him from the top of the crane, a process that took about five minutes. He was stable and alert when he was removed and taken for further medical attention.
