'Most Wanted Deadbeat Dad' Found, Arrested

Former Syosset resident escaped over $1M in child support, reports say.

A man, formerly of Syosset, dubbed "the most wanted deadbeat parent" by the Department of Health and Human Services has been brought into custody for escaping over $1,000,000 in child support payments, reports say.

According to Newsday, Robert Sand, 50, had lived in Thailand for the greater part of 10 years, hiding from three arrest warrants and evading child support payments to his three children.

Sand, who lived in Syosset and worked at an auto auction business prior to trouble with the law, "owes more than $1 million in child support for the three children he fathered with two ex-wives, according to prosecutors who have been on the fugitive’s trail since 2002," reported the New York Daily News.

According to the reports, Sand had lived in Thailand for about eight years, but attempted to enter the Philippines without any identification Nov. 28. It was then, wrote Newsday, that he admitted to officials he was a "wanted man."

Sand was arrested on American territory Monday when he landed in Los Angeles, said Newsday.

Previously indicted in 2009 on two counts of failure to pay child support, Sand has failed to comply with court orders several times since 1996 "before fleeing to Thailand where he sold motorcycles for a living," according to The New York Daily News.

Sand will head to federal court Jan. 16 in Central Islip, said Newsday.

Dead beat dads are a dime a dozen......just because he owed 1m its news.....
the child support program is a joke and not even connected state to state....How many dead beats skip state....Its a joke and mothers and children lose out and losers walk away,......that seems about how the justice system is set up....

Most dead beat dads are beat dead by the system. Fathers often have their children alienated against them. The system also enables the abuser to use the children as pawns for money while withholding access to dad. In a day, age and State where there are supposed to be equal rights, fathers are routinely removed and treated as second class citizens (or worse, criminals). I bet this father was at wits end and fled a State and Country which denigrates and removes fathers from the lives of their children. But, it's all about money today, right?

For instance, critical thinking is not about finding fault with people who make noise by using leafRead More blowers, but about an in-depth thinking of goals and values we will achieve by limiting their use. People could earn more quality life and peace of mind by having quiet time in the early morning and the late evening. The value of mental peace is regarded crucial in our life. Critical thinking gives us a process of thinking to get into the depth of the problem. It begins with an analysis of the situation (structure, background, or setting), in which the information of when, where, and who is identified. The information may help set up seasonal differences in restricting hours of leaf blower operation. Further thinking will lead critical thinkers to note the implication of the new ordinance to the business of licensed landscapers. Also, critical thinkers may think about the development of a soundproof leaf blowing machine. Critical thinking helps us to increase and share our common values, rather than tries to find faults with people who make problems.
