One Firefighter Hospitalized in Cheshire Avenue Blaze

The fire was extinguished Thursday evening at the vacant home; firefighter sent to hospital.

Syosset firefighters put out a blaze in a Cheshire Avenue home Thursday evening, and one firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.

Engine 585 stretched one hose line to the front door, as crews searched for the source of the smoke in the vacant home. They found a fire in the basement that was quickly extinguished.

A ladder truck from the Jericho Fire Department was called to the scene as well as an engine from Hicksville. East Norwich stood by at , and Chief Robert Kaplan was in command of the operation.
