Painter Accused of Jewelry Theft

Great Neck man accused of stealing from Syosset home.

A Great Neck man faces grand larceny charges after he was accused of taking jewelry from a Syosset home he was painting.

In May, Jorge Castro, 44, was left alone in an Ira Road home to paint when he allegedly entered a bedroom and took three pieces of jewelry, Nassau County police said. The victim's husband confronted Castro, who returned two of the three pieces of jewelry, said police.

Castro was arrested Monday and charged with third-degree grand larceny. He will be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
