Photos: Fire Erupts in Attic of Syosset Home

Fire department extinguishes flames on Walker Avenue.

The Syosset Fire Department responded to a house fire on Tuesday morning just after 7 a.m. at 16 Walker Ave., off of Jackson Avenue.

Arriving units found smoke showing from the two-story home with a fire in the attic. Engine 584 was first on scene. Volunteers secured a water supply and stretched one line to the front door.

Engine 585 stretched a second hose line to the front door as firefighters made an aggressive attack on the fire.

Ladder 582 set up in front of the home, conducted searches, which were negative, and vented the home.

The fire was quickly extinguished and no injuries were reported. First Dep. Chief Robert Kaplan was in command during the operation.
