Roy Dwahan Elected Next Fire Commissioner

Beats out Christian Pieper and Robert Manfredonia in Tuesday's election.

Election results are in for the Commissioner position, and Rohit "Roy" Dwahan has reportedly won the election, beating out candidates Christian Pieper and Robert Manfredonia.

"This is a victory for taxpayers," Dwahan said following the win Tuesday night. "This election and the results showed that."

Dwahan won the election with 550 votes, beating out current Commissioner Christian Pieper by 231 votes, in what many believed would be a closer race.

"I knew we had a good chance but I was surprised," Dwahan said. 

Dwahan said he will officially be Commissioner on Jan. 1  -- and said he has a lot he plans to get to work on.

"I'm going to really take a close look at the budget and cut or eliminate anything unnecessary," he said.

Dwahan also mentioned he would re-visit plans for the possible construction of a HQ building on 83 Cold Spring Road - an idea he is opposed to. 

"There were plans for it," Dwahan said. "Again, I need to get in and go over everything -- we're going to work with the town on it."
