Safeway Robber Makes off with Hydrocodone

Several bottles of Hydrocodone were taken during the robbery of the pharmacy.

From Dublin Police Services:

On Thursday, December 13, 2012, about 12:38pm, Dublin Police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Safeway pharmacy located at 7499 Dublin Boulevard. The suspect, described as a white male adult, 5’7”, 225 pounds, facial hair, wearing a grey colored sweatshirt and grey beanie, handed the pharmacy clerk a note stating “this is a robbery." No weapon was seen or mentioned during the robbery and no customers were injured. Per the manager at the pharmacy, there was no money taken, just several bottles of Hydrocodone.

On Wednesday, December 12, 2012, about 1750 hours, possibly the same suspect entered the CVS pharmacy on Regional Street in Dublin. A demand note was given to the clerk and the suspect asked for prescription pain medications. The suspect fled without the prescription drugs after he thought an employee had pushed the alarm button.

Dublin Police Investigations is actively trying to identify the suspect in both incidents. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Sgt. Yesenia Sanchez at 925-833-6682 or Detective Alan Dumatol at 925-833-6684.

Two other similar robberies where reported in Pleasanton over the last two days.

not surprised, people are getting super hooked on this stuff, and the street value of 1 pill of vicodin last I heard was about $5 (don't sell the stuff, I'm an ER nurse we ask PD when they come in). We can always tell when they're coming off stuff and they come to the ER too, detox is very obvious, it looks nothing like the flu!

Agreed! I was "trained" that detox is like having a bad flu. Far from it--it doesn't resemble the flu in any way, shape, or form! Well, I suppose in a textbook they can describe it that way...but like many things, there is classroom training and real training---and a real opiate detox is pretty intense. I'm surprised that pharmacies are not robbed more often, because an opiate addict will pretty much do anything to avoid going through withdrawal.
