Syosset FD Combats Garage Blaze

The Syosset Fire Department responded to a garage fire on Cold Spring Road in Syosset on Saturday at 12:19 p.m.

As reported by www.allhandsfirephotos.com, Chief of Department Peter Silver [5800] arrived on scene and advised he had a fire in the garage that appeared to be exterior in nature.

Engine 584, first due, laid in a 5" supply line from the roadway down the long driveway, and stretched one handline to the front door. Tower Ladder 582 arrived shortly thereafter and set up on the driveway, should the need arise.

Further investigation revealed that the fire was contained to the garage and did not extend into the living areas of the house. The fire was placed under control and turned over to the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office for investigation into the cause and origin.
