Syosset firefighters arrived at Robbins Lane around 8 a.m. Thursday to extinguish a fire inside a Town of Oyster Bay sanitation truck, and worked quickly to put out the fire without any incident.
The fire was located inside of the truck's brakes, but firefighters needed to take caution before putting it out.
"We had them open up the back to see if it spread to any of the garbage," said Syosset Fire Chief John Capobianco. "We found that it was just confined to the brakes."
The fire closed off Robbins Lane traffic south bound, while north bound commuters were diverted through a parking lot, which caused some delays for morning commuters. Firefighters got the call at around 8:11 a.m. Thursday, and finished just before 9 a.m.
