Syosset Firefighters Help Extinguish Jericho Blaze

Two firefighters were injured Sunday morning putting out the house fire at Birchwood Park Drive in Jericho.

The was one of a couple of fire departments called to the scene of a working house fire on Birchwood Park Drive in Jericho Sunday morning at 2 a.m. 

The owner of the home discovered smoke on his third floor and evacuted his family, who escaped uninjured; two firefighters suffered minor injuries. The fire spread quickly throughout the house; the third floor of the home had been undergoing renovations. 

Syosset Ladder 582 set up in front of the Jericho home and used its' master stream along with the Jericho Fire Department's Ladder truck to knock down the fire after an exterior operation was ordered.

Jericho Chief David Ginzburg and his crew were assisted by volunteers from Syosset, Plainview and Hicksville. The fire is under investigation.
