Syosset Man Charged with Drunken Boating

Constables stopped man for speeding and later found he was intoxicated, reports say.

A Syosset man faces drunken boating charges after being stopped in a Massapequa canal for speeding Monday.

Douglas Mandresh, 51 of Syosset, was stopped at about 4:50 p.m. Monday by Bay Constable John Schmidt in Jones Creek in Massapequa, reported Newsday. Schmidt stopped the 19-foot Four Winns boat after observing it traveling over the 5 mile per hour canal speed limit, said the report.

Mandresh was then found to be intoxicated and was charged with operating a vessel while intoxicated, imprudent speed, excessive wake and operating an unregistered vessel, said the report.

Mandresh's court date has not yet been confirmed.
