Tell Us: Worst Streets for Speeding

What streets in Syosset and Woodbury have the quickest drivers?

With the recent arrest of a Far Rockaway man in Syosset for flying down the LIE at over 100 miles per hour, Patch wanted to know if there were streets in town that were just as bad as the highways.

What streets in Syosset are notorious for speeding? Are they main roads like Jericho Turnpike or South Oyster Bay Road? Are they winding backroads through Woodbury and into Oyster Bay Cove?

Tell us in the comments.

South Oyster Bay Road south of Jericho is like a drag strip. Lots of accidents but no attempt at speed control. It's worth your life to try and enter SOB from one of the side streets.

Papa Tom and Gabe are correct, Miller Blvd , IRA rd are terrible. I see speeders every day, mostly commuters . Have called police and yes they come for a day then its right back to speeding. I think speed bumps would be a great idea

Agree Miller Blvd. Can you believe someone once suggested a bike route on this street?

>>>Can you believe someone once suggested a bike route on this street?<<< I think you're messing with me, Linda T. That "someone" was me! Actually, the idea was to end the current Bethpage Bikeway extension in the lot on Miller Blvd. that NY State just cleaned up. Then, because funding for what would have been a beautiful bike path required that the path lead to a railroad station, Miller Blvd would have been a suggested route to complete the trip. Of course, nobody is riding to the train station around here anyway, so you never would have seen a bicycle on Miller Blvd. And, refresh my memory...what, exactly, would have been so bad about that? :)

Split Rock Road and Berry Hill have become major N/S thoroughfares, especially during rush hour. The 2nd Precinct has acknowledged there is a speed problem, but offers zero enforcement. They actually told me they will accept up to 42mphthe in a 30mph zone. Are you kidding? More than 30%the above the limit? I would be happy with 42, but they speeds exceed 50 regularly. Instead of an useless light installed at Syosset Woodbury and Cold Spring Roads, lets see if Judy Jacobs can do something about this. The town will not install stop signs because they claim they are for traffic control, not speed control.
