Cops: Three Arrested for Woodbury Assault

The incident took place after a man tried to purchase marijuana, police say.

Three men were arrested for an assault that occurred on Sunday, April 13, at 3:50 p.m. in Woodbury.

Nassau police say that on Sunday, April 13, a 22-year-old man wanting to purchase marijuana arranged to meet on Verna Way three people: Benjamin S. Molina, 18, of 34 Roseanne Drive, Woodbury; Alexander D. Kolosakas, 17, of 27 Pickswick Drive West, Syosset; and Amir Mohamed 18 of 7 Branwood Drive, of Dix Hills.

An argument ensued that “escalated into a physical confrontation,” according to a news release. The defendants “began punching and kicking the victim in the head and body,” police said. The victim was also struck in the face with a rock.

The three defendants fled the scene in unknown direction, according to police. The victim was treated at a local hospital for his injuries.

The three defendants were charged with second-degree assault, according to police. Kolosakas was located at his residence on Wednesday, April 16, and placed under arrest. He was arraigned at First District Court on April 17. Molina surrendered to detectives on Thursday, April 17, and was arraigned at First District Court on April 18. Mohamed surrendered to detectives on Thursday, and was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead on Thursday.
