Two Arrested in Fox Hollow Fight

Defendants resisted arrest and fought with police after causing a disturbance at the Fox Hollow early Sunday morning, police said.

A couple who was escorted from the Saturday for causing a disturbance got even more out of hand outside, fighting each other and police officers and even kicking out the car window of a police cruiser after being arrested, according to Nassau County police.

Catherine A. LaPorte, 26, of Bay Shore, and Matthew Kane, 29, of Holtsville, became involved in a physical altercation around 1:30 Sunday morning outside the Fox Hollow, police said. LaPorte reportedly struck Kane about the face, causing a laceration above his left eye. Kane placed his hands around the neck of LaPorte and struck her head against the side of the building, police said.

When officers arrived at the scene both LaPorte and Kane ignored orders and fought with police, forcing an officer to use pepper spray. In addition, the defendants kicked out an officer's car window. Two officers received minor injuries during the arrests, but were not treated at hospitals.

Kane was treated and released for injuries at while LaPorte was treated and released at Nassau University Medical Center.

LaPorte is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd, one count of Assault 3rd, Criminal Mischief 3rd, and Resisting Arrest, while Kane is charged with Obstruction of Breathing, Obstruction of Governmental Administration, Resisting Arrest, Harassment 2nd, and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance for a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine found in his wallet upon search incident to arrest.

Both defendants were arraigned Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead.
