Update: Two Injured in Car Accident Saturday

Early morning two-car crash on the LIE sends one car into retaining wall.

A two-vehicle accident on the Long Island Expressway eastbound by Route 135 early Saturday morning sent two people the hospital with unknown injuries.

The Syosset and Plainview arrived at the scene early Saturday around 4:30 a.m. and found the driver of a white car trapped inside after he lost control of his vehicle and smashed into the concrete retaining wall, right before the Manetto Hill Road exit in Plainview.

Firefighters said a second car was involved in the accident, but the driver of that car was not trapped. Syosset firefighters used a variety of hydraulic tools to tear open both passenger doors and the center post while emergency crews attended to the trapped man inside the white vehicle.

The man was freed quickly and transported to an area hospital, authorities said. The driver of the second vehicle was also treated at a hospital. Both of their conditions are currently unknown.
