Water Main Break Interrupts Syosset Traffic

Break flooded several blocks; cause and resulting damage unknown.

Local traffic was held up as police and officials worked to contain a water main break Wednesday night on Southwoods Circle in Syosset.

Nassau County Police headed to Southwood Circle at Garden Circle at about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday night. Water from a broken main was coming up from the roadway at the intersection, creating a large hole in the road. Flooding extended four blocks, making the road impassable. Effected roads were shut down to traffic.

and the water district were notified of the breach, as surrounding homes were without water and working fire hydrants in case of an emergency.
