Boaters Are Encouraged to Take Advantage of Pumpout Stations

Syosset's Department of Environmental Resources is one place to get information.

Boaters can help protect the Town of Oyster Bay's marine resources by using the free floating and dockside pumpout stations and pumpout boats.

"With water on both the north and south shores of the Town of Oyster Bay, boating is a favorite recreational activity," Supervisor John Venditto said. "The provision of adequate marine services is critically important to protecting the ecology of the Town's waterways."

The stationary pumpouts are located at Theodore Roosevelt Marina in Oyster Bay, Harry Tappen Marina in Glenwood Landing and Tobay Boat Basin on Great South Bay. The floating pumpouts are both situated in Oyster Bay Harbor, one near the Western Waterfront Pier and the other near Oyster Bay Marine Center. One pumpout boat operates on the North Shore while the other one plies the waters along the South Shore. Beginning May 1 the stationary and floating pumpouts will be available seven days a week, while the pumpout boats will be available Tuesday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
