Friday Night Skating Special Coming to Cantiague Park

County's Hicksville facility to offer $5 Friday night ice skating and more.

With warm weather approaching, Nassau County is promoting $5 Friday Night  Skate Special at the ice rink at Hicksville's Cantiague Park.

The special comes with free skates on a first-come, first-served basis, County Executive Edward P. Mangano's office announced.

The Friday night skates, which begin Friday, April 12 through Friday May 31 from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., but there's much more to do at Cantiague Park, which has added numerous improvements over the years since it opened in 1961.

Located at 480 W. John Street, Hicksville, Cantiague was the first county park to offer a swimming pool and an artificial skating rink. The 127-acre facility, just north of Old Country Road and easily accessible from the Wantagh State Parkway, offers a renovated 18-hole miniature golf course, 9-hole, par-30 golf course and a driving range.

There are five lighted tennis courts, six lighted handball/paddleball courts, three lighted basketball courts, four lighted softball fields and four multi-sport fields, two of which are lighted.

In the summer of 2008, the park opened a new artificial turf field to accommodate football, soccer and lacrosse and is lighted for night play. 

Cantiague Park also includes a playground, two reserved picnic areas, shuffleboard courts, a bocci court, and tables with inlaid chess and checker boards.
