Lavine Assumes Chair of Association of Jewish Legislators

First change in organizations chairmanship since 2005.

Assemblyman Charles D. Lavine, D-Glen Cove, whose district covers much of Syosset, has been named chairman of the New York state chapter of the National Association of Jewish Legislators.

Lavine replaces former Assemblyman Mark Weprin, who served as chairman since 2005. he association is a network of federal, state and local legislators, including non-Jewish affiliates, and focuses on issues of social justice, discrimination, poverty, education, and health and human services.

Currently, there are between 30 and 40 members in the New York State chapter of the National Association of Jewish Legislators.
