The Meadowbrook Women's Initiative kicked off a new year by helping their neighbors at their annual installation luncheon this week.

The group met at Temple Chaverim in Plainview and presented checks to three organizations that are devoted to health care.

"This organization is devoted to making a difference in people's lives," said  Nassau County Legislator, Judy Jacobs, D-Woodbury, of the initiative.

Jacobs served as installing officer at the luncheon.

The MWI presented their annual check to the Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine. They also made a donation to Angela's House, an organization that provides housing and care families caring for children who are medically fragile, chronically ill or suffering from a life threatening illness.

The final check was resented to Family Residences and Essential Enterprise, Inc., which provides services to over 3,500 differently disabled people.

Youngsters from FREE sang at the ceremony which installed Presidnet Barbara Goldstein for a second term and Susan Gold as a Vice President.
