Whitman Mall Expansion Gets Tax Abatement

Walt Whitman Shops will get a 10-year tax abatement on its expansion. Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency CEO Anthony Manetta said the abatement starts at 50 percent and decreases over the 10-year period until the full rate applies. He said the abatement will save Simon $1.2 million over the term.

School Superintendent Named as Highest Paid in U.S.

A report from Fox Business last week says that Rockville Centre School District Superintendent Dr. William Johnson is "likely the highest paid school superintendent in the country. According to a separate report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy, Johnson was paid $567,248 during the 2011-12 school, the highest salary of any school employee in New York State.
