'No Swimming' Lifted at TOBAY Beaches

Nassau lifts first beach closure of 2012 season.

It's safe to go back in the water, according to the Nassau County Health Department. 19 Nassau County beaches, including , , and were officially reopened Thursday after being closed for stormy weather.

Nassau County Legislator Dave Denenberg announced Wednesday afternoon that swimmers would be pulled out of the water as a "precautionary measure" because of expected storms. According to Denenberg's announcement, "storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacterial levels and affecting bathing water quality."
