POLL: Do Free 'Do Not Knock' Stickers Work?

Does a TOBAY sticker saying "Do Not Knock" repel peddlers in your neighborhood?

It's Saturday morning and you're in comfy clothes, eating cereal and refereeing the kids as they fight over the channel changer when suddenly, ding dong. Someone is at the door trying to sell you something.

To help avoid unwanted soliciting, the that commercial peddlers must obey. But do they?

While TOBAY will gain a for background checks, the real test comes when they knock on your door.

“My office forwards a copy [of peddlers' IDs] to the local police precinct along with a list of solicitors’ names,” said , who advocates a "better safe than sorry" mentality. "If a peddler can't produce their Town license,…close the door and immediately call 911."

What has been your experience with solicitors in your neighborhood? Do peddlers obey the "Do Not Knock" stickers? If you don't have the sticker, are they respectful when you say thanks, but no thanks? Is there anything else the Town could do to curb unwanted soliciting?
