Today is Flag Day, as Americans are encouraged to hang the red, white and blue to show love and honor for your country.
The day commemorates the adoption of the United States flag, which happened that day by resolution of the Second Continental Congress in 1777.
The flag has undergone many changes throughout the years; the current 50-star version was adopted on July 4, 1960. The original flag only had 13 stars.
