Question of the Day: Gay Marriage Passes

How do you feel about New York becoming the sixth state to legalize gay marriage?

New York is now the sixth state in the country to allow same sex marriage.

The State Senate passed a marriage equality bill Friday night by a 33-29 margin and Gov. Cuomo has signed it. The new law goes into effect in 30 days.

Now that the law has passed, we want to know your thoughts.

Our question is: What do you think of the new same sex marriage law?

I believe that each and everyone of us has the right to be with the person they love most, regardless of what gender he or she may be. Gay marriage is the same as a marriage between a man and a woman, and we should accept it as an everyday, normal occurrence. I congratulate all gays, lesbians, and bisexuals in the U.S. who now have another place where they can commit themselves to one another. I hope that by legalizing gay marriage here in New York, we will be able to influence other states and countries to legalize it as well.

I think that gay people should have the same rights as everyone else; however, their getting together should NOT be called marriage. This is a MISNOMER for their union, because it is NOT THE SAME as a union between man and woman. They can call it anything ELSE they want, but NOT marriage. Gays are free to do what they want, but they are WRONG in calling it "MARRIAGE." Physically it's impossible for them to replicate the same act as the one in a real marriage.

Agnes, What part of marriage can a gay couple not replicate? In sickness or in health, for richer or poorer, they can love, honor and cherish each other, till death or divorce do they part. And just like with male/female couples, if they choose to have children and nature prevents it, they can adopt or be artificially inseminated. I think that pretty much covers the whole shebang, don't you?

They Have ears but do not want to hear, they have eyes but they do not want to see. ... Your sin wil find you out ... Your lack of morality will have consequences far beyond your precarious point of view. Our children and our children's children do not have a clearly define sense of morality because of your socially accepted perspectives ... So sad ... So sad
