TOBAY Cancels Park Activities, Extends Pool Hours Due to Heat

The town has also opened a cooling center for the hot weather Tuesday.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Long Island from noon through 9 p.m on Tuesday. Temperatures will teach the high 90s and with the humidity it will feel like 100 degrees.

The Town of Oyster Bay has designated the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center as a "Cooling Center" to assist residents with today’s anticipated high temperatures.

The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is located at 29 W. Carl Street in Hicksville.

The town has also canceled activities at all with athletic fields tennis, handball and basketball courts from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Town of Oyster Bay pools will remain open until 10 p.m. tonight due to the high heat index.
