Town of Oyster Bay Named a 'Tree City USA' for 22nd Straight Year

Award is presented by National Arbor Day Foundation.

Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that for the 22nd consecutive year, the Town of Oyster Bay has been named a "Tree City USA" by the National Arbor Day Foundation. The award is given to communities for initiating tree planting and preservation programs.

"We commend Oyster Bay's elected officials, volunteers and its citizens for providing vital care for its urban forests," said John Rosenow, chief executive and founder of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Trees provide numerous environmental, economic and health benefits to millions of people each day, and we applaud communities that make planting and caring for trees a top priority."

"Trees are such a constant in our lives that we tend to overlook the important contributions they make in beautifying and creating a healthier and more sustainable environment for all of us," Venditto said.
