The Town of Oyster Bay is prepared for what ever comes over the next 24 hours as a winter storm closes in on Syosset and the rest of Long Island.
There are widespread predictions for possible snow fall across Long Island and concerns for high winds and coastal flooding. There is also a chance it will be too warm to leave anything but rain in its wake, forecasters said.

Town of Oyster Bay crews worked Wednesday preparing their fleet of snow plows and sanders in the event of snow and ice, said Marta Kane, a town spokeswoman. Crews were finishing up their preparations Wednesday afternoon and had plenty of salt and sand on hand, she said.
In addition, town crews made special efforts to clear debris from the South Shore communities nearest the water, fearing the associated issues with high winds, Kane said. South Shore communities are still recovering from the impact of Hurricane Sandy in October.
"The numbers haven't changed too much since the last storm," she said. "We've pretty lucky so far this year in terms of the weather and have plenty of salt and sand on hand."
"We're ready," she added.
