Jackson Avenue Construction – Week Two

Construction on Jackson Avenue continues into its second week.

The beginning of this week may have been rainy and dreary, but the weather did not hinder the construction crews as they worked.

The first half of the week saw the construction crews continue their work on the east side of Jackson Avenue. Catch basins on the corner of Hillside Lane North, adjacent to Faith Lutheran Church, and another by Pine Road were installed. This was followed by the installation of piping between the catch basins stretching from the Greentrees Country Day School to Pine Road. A temporary layer of blacktop was laid along this entire strip. During this time, trucks delivered more catch basins that were placed on the west side of the avenue.

On Thursday and Friday, construction shifted to the west side of Jackson Avenue with the installation of catch basins in the vicinity of Walker Avenue.

Throughout the week, Verizon personnel continued their utility work along Jackson Avenue.

Each day the construction crews marked off the shifting of the north and south bound lanes with signs and orange plastic cones. Traffic moved along the avenue this week at a steady pace, although it seemed lighter in comparison to the week before. This may be due to community residents using alternatives to Jackson Avenue to avoid delays.
