Jackson Avenue Improvement Project Hits a Bump in Week 11

Jackson Avenue construction hit a snag with a water main break on Thursday evening.

This week, the construction crews were laying cement at each corner of the avenue intersecting with Jackson Avenue on the westside of the road. This was followed with the repaving of each of these avenues at the intersection to smooth out the connection of each avenue with the main road.

The crews also repaired the blacktop for the parking lot of the stores between Patto Realty and Holzapple Plumbing.

Cement was put down for the sidewalks and aprons from the Citgo Station through and including the Bella Notte Restaurant.

Surveyors were working on the eastside of Jackson Avenue. Verizon was working on the lines on the same side of the avenue by Walker Avenue. Are we going to see the construction crews shift to that side of the avenue in the immediate future to begin their work? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The major news this week was the on Jackson Avenue in front of the at about 6 PM on Thursday evening. Traffic was diverted through the side streets, using Albert and Beatrice Avenues while repairs were being made. By 9:30 AM Friday, the area of the road that had to be dug up for the repairs was again blacktopped, and the traffic was once again flowing along Jackson Avenue in both directions.
