Jackson Avenue Improvement Project - New Traffic Lights Installed

The reconstruction of Jackson Avenue continues to move along at a steady pace.

The construction crews had a very busy work week during week 20 of the Jackson Avenue project. 

New sod was planted from Hillside Lane South to and including on the east-side of Jackson Avenue. On the west-side of the avenue, sod was laid from Jericho Turnpike to Lucille Drive.

The white plastic fences along the backyards of the homes across from the Citgo Station (Devine Avenue) were reinstalled. New wooden stockade fences were also installed along the same stretch of the avenue to give privacy to the houses on Fams Court.

New traffic lights were installed on the corners of The Mall, Dawes Avenue, and Convent Road. 

Manholes were installed at intervals along the avenue.

Traffic was interrupted this week as the work crews removed the old pavement for both the north and south bound lanes from Teibrook Avenue to the The movement of the heavy construction equipment was the cause of the traffic interruption.

We will see what projects the crews will be involved in next week with the start of a new month.
