Jackson Avenue Improvement Project – Week 12

The construction crews for The Jackson Avenue Improvement Project began working on the eastside of Jackson Avenue this week

This week saw the construction crews work on both the east and west sides of Jackson Avenue, as they completed the third month of work on the

The crews began their work bright and early on Monday morning by removing the sidewalks on the eastside of the avenue, starting with the row of stores and the accountant’s office adjacent to During the week, they then continued to remove the sidewalks beginning at the corner of Hillside Lane South and ending up at Hillside Lane North by

Catch basins and piping were installed at the entrance to Pine Road and in the front of

Work also continued on the westside of the avenue with the pouring of cement for sidewalks from Walker Avenue to Dawes Avenue, and further up north by the Citgo Station.

Residents were concerned about the installation of the new traffic light by Dawes Avenue and The Mall. I am happy to report that stanchions have been installed for the new light on the westside of the street adjacent to the corner of Dawes Avenue. Stanchions were also repositioned on the westside of Jackson Avenue for the traffic light at Teibrook Avenue.

Traffic continued to move at a steady pace, although it was lighter in volume. People seem to be using Underhill Boulevard as an alternative.

From my experience heading south on Jackson Ave. From the LIRR to Rt. 25, there have been minimal disruptions. Nice job so far. I travel that section at around 10AM daily
