Jackson Avenue Improvement Project – Week 15

Construction crews continued their work on the renovation of Jackson Avenue.

The odyssey to improve Jackson Avenue continued this week as the construction crews continued working on the east side of the avenue.

From Hillside Lane North () to Teibrook Avenue, the crews installed the forms for the new curbs and sidewalks. This was followed by the pouring of cement along this section of the road.

Stanchions were installed along the sidewalk in front of , and from Convent Road to Railroad Avenue.

The crews also poured cement this week to complete the new sidewalk and driveway apron for the stores adjacent to 1-800-Flowers.

Along the stretch of this road from Teibrook Avenue to Convent Road, the crews installed the forms and poured the cement for the new curbs. This section of the avenue has never had curbs or sidewalks. The crews will probably pour the cement for the new sidewalks in this area during the upcoming week.

When this is completed, Syosset residents will be able to walk along the east side of the avenue from Jericho Turnpike to Convent Road on a continuous sidewalk. This will provide community members with a safer experience. In years past, one had to navigate old “Oregon Trail” (a weedy, dirt, unlevel path) along this section of the avenue.
