Jackson Avenue Improvement Project – Week 21

The Jackson Avenue Improvement Project is drawing to a close.

The renovation project of Jackson Avenue seems to be drawing to a close.

This past week, the construction crews concentrated their efforts on the northern section of the avenue. They spent time with the "odds and ends," cementing projects from Convent Road to the . Cement was put down for the driveway apron at and the sections of sidewalks surrounding the newly installed traffic light poles.

New traffic lights and poles were installed at the corners of Convent Road and Ira Road.

Poles for the new decorative lighting were also installed from Convent Road to the corner of Ira Road. New lighting still has to be installed from Ira Road to the LIRR station (Lex Realty) on the previously installed stanchions. It seems that there will also be new lighting along the sidewalk in front of , as stanchions have been previously installed.

New stockade fencing was installed along the east side of the avenue across from the Citgo Station for privacy for the houses next to .

The base coat of asphalt was put down from Teibrook Avenue to the LIRR station.

At the southern end of the avenue, new sod was lain from Albert Avenue to Lewis Lane for lawns damaged by the construction. Sod was also put down at both corners of Lucille Drive, adjacent to the maintained by the RESIDENTS for a more beautiful Syosset.

Towards mid-week, the construction crews put down the final layer of asphalt for both lanes from Jericho Turnpike to Pine Road.

Is it possible that the work on Jackson Avenue will be completed in the coming weeks? We will just have to wait and see.
