The week began with the construction crews continuing their work on the curbs and sidewalks on the west side of Jackson Avenue from (Edward Avenue) to the corner of Lewis Lane. They installed the needed forms for the curbs and sidewalks, laid the cement, and graded and replaced the top soil for lawns and the three foot space between the curb and the sidewalk. Driveway aprons and new ramps for the disabled were installed, and where needed, residents’ driveways were blacktopped.

By the middle of the week, the crews began the installation of curbs and sidewalks continuing on the west side of the avenue from Lewis Lane to Willis Avenue. The forms were installed and the cement laid for the curb running along the avenue from Lewis Lane to Lucille Drive.

The only work that was done on the east side of Jackson Avenue was the installation of a catch basin and the respective piping by Pine Road.

In the Syosset Advance (June 24, 2011), there was an article written by Jim Connors, entitled “Addresses Men’s Club." On June 21, 2011, the Councilman addressed the St. Edward’s Men’s Club, where he discussed the Jackson Avenue Improvement Project. The chief engineer for the project, Daniel Midgette, Town of Oyster Bay Engineering Department, in his statement to the audience, said that “the project is going well and is ahead of schedule." It was also stated that stamped concrete crosswalks will be installed at Railroad Avenue, Ira Road and Convent Road.

According to the article, it was also revealed that there is talk of a Phase 2 project to match with this Phase 1 project within the next two years. Nassau County is believed to have a contract for work further north of the railroad.
